Mary Janet Smith, 92, passed away peacefully at her home on September 16, 2025. She was born on September 22, 1932, in Memphis, TN to parents, William and Irene Wages. Janet was a woman who was loved by all that knew her, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She married the love of her life Harold Smith on February 7, 1948, and they remained married for many years until his passing. From the union 6 beautiful children were created. Janet was a devoted Christian, she attended Central Baptist Church for many years until she could no longer attend. She loved to read, it was one of her most favorite past times. Janet is preceded by her parents, her loving husband Harold, 2 sisters: Betty Eberwine, and Beck Wages, as well as 3 brothers: Bobby Wages, Paul Wages, and Bill Wages. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her 6 children: Diania Squires, Pat Brist, Cathy Nix, Harold Lee Smith Jr. (Sonny), Michael Smith, and Jerry Smith. She also is survived by 10 grandchildren: Nadia Hargett, Brandy Erwin, Keith Poyner, Joie Barbieri, Shane Manuel, Kevin Smith, Dalton Smith, Tanya Roberts, Heather Smith, and Jennifer Smith, along with 22 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. Janet will forever be in our hearts, and we will miss her more than words can express.
