Obituary

Janice Elaine Davidson, 78, of Drummonds TN, left this earth to be with the Lord and her beloved Charles on Monday July 22, 2019. Janice was an all-state basketball star at Ingomar High School in her home state of Mississippi. She is also in the Memphis Sports Hall of Fame for her many years of playing women's recreational basketball. She was an educator and taught various grades at Frayser Baptist, Skyview and Tipton county schools where she impacted the lives of so many. She also was the director of the Women's Missionary Union (WMU), Community Bible Study (CBS) director and charter member at Gateway Baptist Church. She and her husband Charles served their community on several local and international mission trips. Mrs D was proceeded in death by her beloved Charles, her husband of 56 years. She is survived by her children and grandchildren; son: Mark Davidson and his children, Brittany Carwile and her husband Doug with great-granddaughter Jolene, Heather and her husband Jason, and Geoffrey; daughter: Melinda Wilbanks, husband Allen and their children, Hunter and his wife Taylor, and McKell; son: Scott Davidson, wife Jennifer and their children Tucker, Raelyn and Landry; Michelle Strickland, her husband Kevin, and their daughter Sarah Beth. Mrs D is also survived by her brother, Curtis Downs. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Ervin Downs and Mabel Pickens Downs; and one brother, Jim Downs. The viewing will be held on Friday, July 26th at Forest Hill Cemetery East, 2440 Whitten Rd, Memphis, TN 38133 from 5 to 7 pm. The burial service will be on Saturday, July 27th at 10:00 AM at Forest Hill East. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to the Charles and Janice Davidson mission scholarship at Gateway Baptist Church.
