Jean (McGrath) Ball, of Memphis, Tennessee, beloved wife of Larry Ball,for 63 years, passed peacefully on to heaven on Feb. 15, 2020, at the age of 88.    She was the daughter of the late John and Pearl (Eisener) McGrath of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.  Jean is survivied by her husband,  Larry, daughter, Charlene (late Riecke) Gernon,of Baton Rouge, Louisiana,  son, Glenn (Gregoria)  of  Memphis, brother Robert (Donna) McGrath, sister Carol (Fred) Hasler, Dartmouth, N.S., granddaughter Jennifer (Gernon) Keller, of Denver, Colorado, grandson R Riecke Gernon of Baton Rouge, great-granddaughter Alanna Gernon of  Prairieville, LA. , and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother Fred, Escondido, California.

Jean was born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, on July 12, 1931.  She graduated from Dartmouth High School, and Business School in Halifax.  She moved to the United States in June, 1951, and lived in New Orleans,  and Norfolk, Virginia, where she met Larry.  They were married on Christmas day 1956 in the Bethel Methodist Church, near Lawton, OK   She lived in Norman, OK; El Paso, TX; Roswell, New Mexico; Oklahoma City, OK; Dallas and San Antonio, TX, Metairie, LA, and Memphis, TN.  She worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for several employers full time for 10 years and then worked part time for many years after the children were in school.  She was a wonderful mother, cook., seamstress and homemaker.

Jean loved people and  was active in the Methodist Church women's group and Sunday School.  She taught 3 and 4 year old Sunday School for over 20 years.  She was a lay delegate to the Methodist Annual Conference for 20 years., and also served on the Administrative Board for  many years.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Bartlett United Methodist Church, Bartlett, TN, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, with visitation at l:00 p.m.  All are welcome to attend and rejoice in her life.  In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the Bartlett United Methodist Church.
