"Mama Jean" Lenderman Phelps left for her heavenly home on December 23, 2016 at age 93. Born in Memphis, TN to Gladys and Willie Frank Lenderman, she graduated from Humes High School and married the love of her life, Richard G. Phelps, whom preceded her in death 33 years ago. Her only granddaughter, Tammy Lynn Phelps, also preceded her in death. She leaves four children, Jerry Phelps (Barbara) of Byhalia, MS, Larry Phelps (Joan) of Bartlett, TN, Vickie Wagnon (Ron) of Hoschton, GA and Janell Ray (David) of Winter Park, FL. She also leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After raising their children, Jean and Richard moved to their lake home in Counce, TN. Jean returned to Memphis in 1988 where she resided at St. Peter Manor. Jean was an avid volunteer within her community and church and at St. Peter Manor, volunteering at the reception desk, serving on the Resident Council and in the library while keeping up her weekly games of Scrabble. A lifelong Presbyterian, Jean was most recently a member at Evergreen Presbyterian Church.

Viewing will be Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Forest Hill Cemetery East at 12:00, service at 1:00 p.m. Request memorials be sent to Shriners Children''s Hospital; American Cancer Society; American Red Cross or donor''s choice.
