Jean Linton Murphree, 84, passed away in Memphis, TN on September 5, 2019.  She was a member of Longview Heights Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS and retired from Southern Systems, Inc. after 34 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents Jeff and Panthy Linton,  a son Victor Murphree,a grand daughter Calista Jean Whitten, three brothers, Luther, Lawrence, and Dewey, and one sister, Mildred.  Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 65 years, Morris Lee Murphree, daughter, Sherry Whitten (Michael) of Germantown, TN, and son, Christopher Murphree (Penny) of Florida, and one sister, Faye Williams of Olive Branch.  Mrs. Murphree was blessed with two grandchildren, Meredith Whitten, and Crystal Murphree and grand dog, Meeko.

Mrs. Murphree was born in Iuka, MS.  Her family moved to Houlka, MS when she was  ten years old.  She graduated from Houlka High School despite pushing her teacher down the fire escape.  She met her "Beau", Morris Murphree, at a social gathering in Houlka where she was playing the piano. She threw a song book at him and then drove him home in her Dad's truck which had no brakes.  It must have been love at first sight!  Mrs. Murphree moved to Memphis in 1954 and has been a resident of Olive Branch, MS since 1994.  She was dedicated to her family, The Lord, and service at Longview Heights, and she loved a good ball game.  Visitation with her family will be on Monday, September 9, 2019, from 10:00-12:00 pm with her funeral service following at 12:00 pm at Longview Heights Baptist Church on Goodman Road in Olive Branch, MS.  Forest Hill Funeral Home, East 901-382-1000. The burial will be at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park South on Holmes road following the service.
