JEAN GILLESPIE SHEMWELL, 79, of Memphis, went home on January 9, 2012. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Jenne', son, Billy Shemwell, grandson, Garrett Graves, and one brother, Bill Gillespie. Mrs. Shemwell is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, George Shemwell, Sr.; children, Michael (Sharon) Shemwell, Robert (Pam) Shemwell, Jimmy (Penny) Shemwell, Yonna Shemwell, Deborah Shemwell, Sam Purdy, Libby Graves, and Butch Jenne'; sisters, Dr. Sara Folis, Sue Gatti; brother, Captain James Gillespie (Ret.); sister-in-law, Pat Gillespie; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, with a prayer service from 7-8 p.m., and funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, January 12 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment will be in Forest Hill East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.
