Obituary

Betty Jeanenne Cook-Massey, 83, of Olive Branch, MS passed from this life on April 9, 2020 at Landmark of DeSoto in Horn Lake, MS.  Affectionately known as 'Shug' or 'Nannie', Jeanenne was born on November 6, 1936 to Harold Douglas Cook and Aurie Laverne Elizer-Cook in Friendship, (Crockett County) TN.

She is survived by one son, Ronald A. Massey (Patricia), four grandsons, Chad (Hayley), Blake (Amanda), Matthew, and Drew, along with six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Benjamin Harold Massey, son, Michael H. Massey, her parents, and a sister, LaNita Cook-Pepper.

She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, and her brothers and sisters in Christ were always like family in the truest sense.  She retired after a long career as an executive secretary, and enjoyed church fellowships, gardening, and fishing.  She was a devoted caretaker of others through the years and patiently served with the utmost dedication.  She was blessed by loving neighbors and her Maples brethren in the final months when she needed them most.

The family will gather under the mausoleum pavilion of the Forest Hill Memorial Park – South cemetery (Memphis, TN) on Monday, April 13, 2020, at 2:00 PM to say goodbye.  In lieu of flowers, please send memorials in her honor to Maples Memorial United Methodist Church, Olive Branch, MS.
