Jerry W. Cobb, 78, of Memphis, TN died Friday, May 3, 2013 at his home. He was a member and Elder of Kingsway Christian Church, retired General Contractor, past president of the Memphis and State Associated General Contractors, served on the Shelby County Charter Commission, chairman of the Shelby County Civil Merit Board, and very active in the Republican Party. Mr. Cobb was very involved in Community and Civic activities, some of which included scholarship committees, sat on several boards including the Shelby County Civil Service Merit Board. He attended Idewild Elementary School, Fairview Jr. High and Central High School where he excelled in baseball and basketball. Mr. Cobb also attended Memphis State and was listed in the 19th edition of Who''s Who in Finance and Industry. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Edna Cobb; son, Richard Cobb (Theresa) of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Christy Scott, Leigh Ann Broadway, Timothy Quinn, Jr., Jason, Anthony and Allie Quinn and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, William Michael Cobb and his brother, Rev. Terry R. Cobb. Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2013 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Kingsway Christian Church with interment to follow in Edmondson Cemetery in Southaven, MS. The family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital.
