Obituary

Jerry Lynn McCormick abounded into this world at his Banner, MS home on October 10, 1944 on a stormy day when the neighbor's mule was struck by lightning. Jerry entered Eternity holding his daughter's hands on September 25, 2020 at 4:13am, the exact time his wife, Barbara Ann Mills McCormick of 39 years preceded him 16 years, 6 months and 1 day ago.

He is survived by his daughters, LaQuita Joy McCormick Luke of Southaven, and Christi Lynn McCormick House of Memphis, three grandsons, Justin Powell Luke (Elizabeth), Taylor Michael House (Mikenzie) and Joshua Dillon Luke. Jerry (Peep) also leaves his great granddaughter, Eva Joy Luke, great grandson, Wyatt Gregory House, and unborn Carter Jerry (CJ) Luke.  He retained a close relationship with his son-in-law, Michael John House. Also, his sisters, Joan Gean & Jean McCormick, sister-in-law and best friend, Vickie McCormick, brother-in-law, Jimmy Mills, sister-in-laws, Helen Bullard, Wilma Brown, and Kathleen Warren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews will deeply miss his pranks and antics. Jerry also leaves countless adopted daughters, sons, grandchildren, along with endeared close friends, neighbors, and his healthcare team.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Mills McCormick,  parents, James Lloyd & Lily Mae Cox McCormick, sister Jimmie Mae (Bill) Dunn, brothers, Hoyt, Donald, & Paul McCormick.

Jerry (Gabby) retired from Texas Gas Transmission after 22 years of service, had over 20 years of employment as a mechanic, even worked on Elvis Presley and Tony Dorsett's vehicles at times. He was certified in Heating and Air and obtained a real estate license at one point in time. But his passions were fellowshipping with his church family at First Baptist Church Southaven, spending every minute with his family, going to gospel singings, fishing, working on anything that had a carburetor, gardening, hunting, telling jokes, going to the beach, visiting botanic gardens, and bringing joy, enlightenment, and happiness to everyone he met.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to First Baptist Church, Southaven, MS where dad was a member for 46 years.  The family will receive visitors Wednesday, September 30 from 12-2pm & 4-8pm at FBC, Southaven, MS.  The service will be on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 2pm at FBC, Southaven, MS with Graveside Service at Forest Hill South following the service.
