Jerry Laurence Snyder, age 79, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, at the West Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tennessee, just two days after celebrating his birthday.
Jerry was born on June 24, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Laurence Robert Snyder; his mother, Vineta Bach Snyder, both of St. Louis, Missouri; his paternal grandparents, Byron Snyder and Susan Griffith Snyder of Leon, New York; his first wife of 27 years, Wanda June Marley Snyder, the mother of his children; his son, Berry Snyder of Cleveland, Tennessee; his infant daughter, Baby Girl Snyder; his granddaughters, Kelsey Lynne Snyder and Taylor June Snyder; and his great-granddaughter, Wanda Lynn Snyder.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 29 years, Jane Carter Snyder of Halls, Tennessee; his sons, Timothy (Melinda) Snyder of Bartlett, Tennessee, and Matt (Shelly) Snyder of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; his daughter-in-law, Loretta Snyder of Cleveland, Tennessee; his stepson, Jason (Diane) Hunter of Powell, Tennessee; and his stepdaughter, Rosann Hunter- Ontis (Lenore) of Godfrey, Illinois.
Jerry also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Nathan (Amber) Snyder, Alex (Ashley) Snyder, Justin (Adrien) Snyder, and Erika (Bailey) Gleason, all of the Cleveland, Tennessee area; Jordan (Charlie) Peterson of DeBary, Florida; Faith (Mateus) Snyder-Rodrigues of Sanford, Florida; and Noah Snyder of Bartlett, Tennessee.
His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Nova, Remington, Henry, Sunny, Malachi, Micah, McKenzie Snyder, Maverick Gleason, all of the Cleveland, Tennessee area, and Leah and Olivia Peterson of DeBary, Florida.
Jerry proudly served his country as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. During his military service, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Service Cross for his courage and sacrifice.
Above all, Jerry was a devoted follower of Christ whose faith guided his life. He had a deep love for animals, especially his beloved Boxers, Dancie and Paw, whom he often referred to as the siblings he never had. His kindness, strength, unwavering faith, and love for both family and animals will be remembered by all who knew him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of the West Tennessee Veterans Home for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity they provided to Jerry during his final days.
Jerry's life was one of service, faith, and love. His memory will be treasured always, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
