Jerry D. Walker, Sr. 69, walked thru the pearly gates of heaven and into the arms of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Friday morning, December 29th. He passed away at his home surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born in Cleveland Mississippi on April 7th, 1948 . He was the first born son of the late Ivy Tendall Walker and Lucy Stacy Walker.
Jerry served in the United States Air Force after graduating from Humes High School in 1966. He was stationed in England and studied Electronic Warfare and felt honored to serve his country.
Jerry had a wonderful sense of humor and always a smile on his face. He had a great desire to help people in all walks of life. He was an ordained minister and pastored a church in Drew Mississippi in 1980. This gave him the opportunity to teach God''s Word and fellowship with people. He retired from the City of Memphis Communications Maintenance. He was employed at Bartlett City Schools in the IT department when he became ill. He had so many faithful friends there and enjoyed his work immensely.
Jerry leaves behind his mother Lucy Walker. His wife of 45 years, Sharon Brazil Walker, one daughter Penny Walker Elkins and son-in-law Jeffery Elkins, one son Jerry Dewayne Walker Jr., and daughter-in-law Angela Walker, three grandchildren, Shelby Walker, Zoe Elkins and Gage Fox. One sister, Diane Walker Sanderson, three brothers, Ricky Walker, Randy Walker, and Scott Walker.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, January 2nd from 5-7 and services Wednesday morning at 11:00.
