Jerry Alan Young, born to James T. & Thelma Young on August 3, 1938, went to be with our Lord on April 12, 2014. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 55 plus years, Barbara; daughters, Andrea (Kip) Lemons and Tamara (Greg) Dickerson; 8 grandchildren, Courtney (Dante) Tarena, Cody (Dani) Lemons, Kayla Lemons, Jake (Anna) Dickerson, Josh (Melanie) Dickerson, Caleb, Rebekah and Matthew Dickerson; 3 great grandchildren, Melora and Joey Tarena and Laney Dickerson; also his sister, Jill (Neill) Cameron; sisters-in-law Carolyn (Charles) Armour and Betty (Jack) Price; brother-in- law James Graves; many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Jerry had a close relationship with Jesus Christ and was a member of Desoto Hills Baptist Church. He was a very loving, kind man who was always the life of gatherings with his humor and personality. His steadfast integrity has greatly impacted many lives and his legacy will continue for generations to come. Jerry was with Gordon Transports for many years and retired from Consolidated Freightways. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 13 and service will be 12 noon, Monday, April 14 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home with interment following.
