JESSE WARREN CAUTHEN, JR. 88, died, Wednesday, April 17. Jesse was a Navy veteran of World War II. After the war he was employed at Malone and Hyde using silk screen printing for many ads for many years. His friendship with artist Dorothy Sturm was a major influence in his turning to abstract art and he was also influenced by sculptor Ted Rust. With his father he decorated Malone and Hyde floats for Cotton Carnival parades. He acted in Summer and Smoke at Southwestern College and for Front Street Theatre. Jesse taught art at Sue Hicks Hobby Center and he was generous in helping many artists. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Warren and Charlie Bell and is survived by a cousin, Hazel Mayberry of Frayser. Many thanks to Crossroads Hospice for their faithful care and compassion and to Kamela Smith, his caregiver since October 1, who has been an angel in her loving care and nursing.
