Obituary

Jimette Ann Stracener of West Memphis, AR passed away April 5, 2018 following a short illness. She was 70.

Jimette was born in Union City, TN to James Everett and Clarice May Dedmon and grew up in Hickman, KY. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Hickman, KY. She graduated from Fulton County High School where she was the lead majorette in the marching band.  After high school, she attended and graduated from Southern Academy of Medical Technology in Nashville, TN in 1966. Jimette married Laudis E. Stracener (Larry) in 1967. Larry drove a truck for the Kroger Co. of Memphis, TN for 36 years before his death in 1992.

Jimette was passionately committed to helping people. After becoming a member of the AMT, she worked to continually help the sick and injured and volunteered at hospitals in times of need. She worked for Colonial Country Club in Memphis, TN as a receptionist. She often spoke of meeting local dignitaries, movie stars and recording artists. She worked for FEDEX in Memphis, TN as a sorter and processors and retired from FEDEX a few years ago.  In her spare time, Jimette loved being outdoors and her favorite pastime was riding in the pontoon boat.

Survivors include her son (Les) Laudis E. Stracener, II of West Memphis, AR. Her granddaughter, Chelsea Lynn Davis and husband, Chad Davis of Marion, AR. Her great grandchildren, Oaklee Nicole Davis, Owen Porter Davis and Oliver Jamison Davis.

Visitation for Jimette Ann Stracener will be on Wednesday, April 11 th from 4-7pm at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1661 Elvis Presley Blvd., Memphis, TN 38106. Phone number is 901-775.0310. Graveside service will be Thursday, April 12 th at 10:00am at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.

The family extends their grateful thanks to Methodist Germantown Hospital for their diligent work and care.
