Jimmie Lewis (Jim) Godwin, 80, of Memphis, Tenn., died Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at his home. He was born January 16, 1941, in Mountain Pine, Ark., to Lawrence and Mamie Riggs Godwin.

Mr. Godwin spent most of his childhood and youth in Malvern, Ark. He worked for 24 years in Arkansas and Tennessee in the automobile service industry as attendant, owner, and district supervisor. The last 28 years of his working career was spent as a Supervising Building Engineer for the legacy Memphis City Schools.

He enjoyed repairing and trading old cars and trucks, fishing, and carpentry projects.

Mr. Godwin is survived by his wife of 39 years, Harriett Dill Godwin of the home; seven children, Ann Elizabeth Livingston, Jimmie Lewis (Bo) Godwin Jr. of Arkansas, Theresa Lynn Williams of Arkansas, Brenda Gail Howell (Steven) of Arkansas, Richard Lawrence Godwin (Colleen) of Washington, Christopher Lee Godwin (Brandi) of Virginia, Ashlynn Marie Owens (David) of Arkansas; brother, Larry Godwin (Linda) of Arkansas; sister, Cathy Holiman (Michael) of Arkansas; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Billie Jean Helton Godwin; and son-in-law, Mickey Williams.

The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care.

At Mr. Godwin's request, there will only be a private family graveside service.

Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park is handling arrangements.
