Ms. Jimmie Reeves Eggert died at 2:50 P.M. on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at age 77 in Baptist East Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. Jimmie was born in Oxford, Miss. on November 27, 1937 during the height of the Great Depression. She moved with her family to Memphis when she was six-years-old. Straight after graduation from high school she went to work for AT&T in Memphis where she was one of thousands who helped pave the way for the modern woman. She wrapped up a 50-year career there in 2004 when she retired from the Memphis branch of the Engineering Department. Jimmie was a passionate Memphis (State) Tigers basketball fan, having seen every pre-, regular, and post-season game, quite likely, since they were first televised. The same can be said for the Grizzlies. She was also an ardent collector of salt and pepper shakers, leaving behind a collection amassed over 60+ years and consisting of over 5,000 sets representing most countries on every continent and every state in the US. Her love for this hobby ended with, literally, a world class collection; her final set being a pair of aliens recently purchased by her son as a gift in Roswell, New Mexico. Jimmie is survived by a son, Daren, a grandson, Nicholas, and a cat named Sam. Visitation begins at 9:00 A.M. and the funeral service begins at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 10 at Forest Hill East.
