IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan
Burlison
March 6, 1935 – January 26, 2025
Joan Burlison, age 88, of Searcy, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2025. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Blanch Barton Kimball.
Joan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her compassion, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith in Christ. A true Southern lady, Joan lived most of her life in the Memphis, Tennessee area, where she built a lifetime of cherished friendships and family memories.
A dedicated and knowledgeable nurse, Joan took great pride in her career. She found purpose and fulfillment in caring for others and was always ready to offer a listening ear, a kind word, or a healing touch.
Joan had a love for simple joys—especially growing flowers on her windowsill, where she found beauty and peace in nurturing blooms that brought color to her home and heart. For 15 years, she also faithfully sang in the church choir at Longview Heights Baptist Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi, lifting her voice in praise and building bonds with her church family that lasted a lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Blanch Kimball; her first husband, Donald B. Scarlett; her son, Paul Andrew Scarlett; a granddaughter, Aimee Scarlett; and her second husband, Grady Knighton.
She is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Burlison; her son, Allen Scarlett; her stepson, Jimmy Burlison; and two stepdaughters, Elaine Burlison Gorham Keathley and Diane Reeves. Joan was a proud grandmother to three beloved granddaughters—Kimberly Scarlett, Mandee Russell, and Holly Jones—whom she adored with her whole heart.
Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now singing with the angels, rejoicing in the presence of her Savior.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
