Joe Wilson Hurt, 68 years old, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, June 25, 2012. He was born July 24, 1943, near Booneville, MS. His father Marshall Wilson Hurt, mother Lizzie Ruth Jumper, sister Jean Brewer and stepfather Dock Littrell preceded him in death. Joe graduated from Kingsbury High School where he played basketball. Afterwards he attended Draughons Drafting School in Nashville and became a licensed architect. He was honorably discharged from the Air National Guard of Tennessee and the Reserve of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from FedEx after 20 years, and was employed at UT Health Science Center. Joe enjoyed and loved his family. He is survived by his wife Glenda; three sons Brian, David and Adam; and two nieces, Kathy Hisky and Melissa Garrett. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Forest Hill East Funeral Home on Whitten Road. The funeral will be held at the same location on Saturday, June 30 at 11:00 AM.
