John R. Gibbs, 70, died peacefully on January 1, 2014. He is survived by his brother, Jim Bob Gibbs, his wife, Carolyn Gibbs, and his daughter, Jessica Gibbs. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, niece, nephew, aunt, cousins and many amazing friends. John graduated from Jefferson City Senior High School and attended Warrensburg State Teachers College in Missouri. He had a love of fishing, golf, reading, and music. He also enjoyed watching Memphis Tigers basketball and spending his spare time at the Horseshoe Casino. He worked primarily in the steel fabrication business, including 27 years at GMW in Memphis. John will be missed by his family and friends for his positive attitude, generosity, sense of humor and zest for life. Visitation with the family will be from 9 to 10 a.m. and Celebration of Life service will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 6, at Forest Hill Funeral Home East, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis.
