John Howard Hayes passed away on March 28, 2014, in Soddy-Daisy, TN. Born near Parsons, TN, on April 28, 1917, Mr. Hayes was the son of Frank and Maude Myracle Hays and a long-time resident of Memphis. He was a foreman at the International Harvester plant in Frayser. He was a former member of Frayser Baptist Church and later Bellevue Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Ruth Erwin Hayes, and leaves sons John H. Hayes, Jr., Chattanooga, and James Hayes (Sandra), Jonesborough, TN; daughter Ruth A. Ballard (Jim), Chattanooga; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at Forest-Hill East, Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m. with visitation at 1. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor''s choice.
