John Herbert Hurley, Jr., 92, of Bartlett, passed away June 4, 2019.  Born in Memphis, TN, he was preceded in death by his wife, Drexal Clayton Hurley; parents, John Herbert Hurley, Sr. and Beatrice Barnes Hurley; and nine siblings.  He is survived by his children:  Sandra Austin (Steve), Wanda Hawkins, Janet Forbes (Larry), and Jeff Hurley.  He was Papaw to eight grandchildren:  Tim Austin (Meredith), Paul Austin (Tamara), Emilie Hawkins Eppler (Clint), Amanda Hawkins, Melissa Hawkins McLellan (Keith), Angela Forbes Hardy (Spencer), Alaina Hurley, and Josh Hurley (Bree), and eleven great-grandchildren.  After working as a maintenance mechanic for 30 years, he retired from Kellogg's Company.  He was a Mason and a past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Oakville Chapter.  After retirement, he enjoyed working on electronic and mechanical projects, as well as puzzles and computer games.  However, spending time with his family was the most rewarding and greatest joy in his life.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home East (901-382-1000) and service at 2:00 p.m.  Family respectfully requests that no fragrance products be worn to the services.
