John Lowther, left this life for a better one on April 6, 2014 at the age of 91. Devoted husband and father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Lowther. Known to all as Big John, he was a former business owner, and wholesaler. He was an active church member. John had been a resident at St. Francis Signature Nursing Home. He is survived by his wife, Stella, of 66 years. He leaves behind two daughters, Deborah Lowther Letke of Sardis, MS and Pamela Lowther Haynes of Memphis, TN, and two grandsons, John Thomas Brandon and David Gordon Letke. Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Eastside Baptist Church, 3232 Covington Pike, Memphis, TN, 38128.
