John Thomas Rainey, Sr., of Cayce, MS passed away on January 21, 2021. He was 80 years old. He was retired from the Memphis Fire Department and Collierville Animal Control and was a US Air Force Veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Vernon and Amy Lou Rainey of Memphis, TN and his brothers, Glen A. Rainey of Barton, MS, Charles E. Rainey of Barton, MS, and David A. Rainey of Memphis, TN. He is survived by his two sons, Dennis Rainey of Barton, MS and John Rainey of Cayce, MS; two sisters, Mattie Smith of Collierville, TN, Martha Morris of Memphis, TN; two brothers, Robert Rainey of Barton, TN, and Bill Rainey of Mt. Pleasant; and granddaughter Kenzie Gibbs (Justin).

There will be a celebration of life held at Robert Rainey, Jr., Memorial Arena, 928 Quinn Road, Byhalia, MS 38611 on February 5, 2021 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Collierville Animal Shelter.
