John Thomas Smithson, 95, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2015 in Memphis. Mr. Smithson was born in Anniston, AL. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Omaha and USS South Dakota. He retired from MLGW where he was a residential gas service technician and was a longtime member of Bolton United Methodist Church. John was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy and his son, Thomas. He leaves two daughters: Michelle Hefley (Keith) and Andrea Arnett (David)Í four grandchildren: Kevin and Alison Hefley and Erica and Emily Arnett. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 23 at Forest Hill East with graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Hill East Cemetery.
