Obituary

John Oliver Suhr, born January 23, 1926, met his Maker face to face on December 15, 2017.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Suhr, of almost 67 years, along with his daughters Lynn Bullock (David), Kathy Underwood (David), Rose Marie Basden (Tommy), Mary Sue Webb (David), and sister, Helen Spence. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Suhr and Myrtie Sue Suhr and two sisters, Mary Rodgers and Myrtie Sarapu. John was a member of Wells Station Baptist Church, and was an active member of National Avenue Baptist Church for over 40 years.
He was known as a handyman - as he could fix anything and did so for family, many friends and church members.

He retired from Sears Roebuck Crosstown after 37 years there. He was a volunteer Keyman at Methodist North Hospital for 18 years. John was a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Gideons International or charity of the donor''s choice. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 19,2017 from 5p.m. until 7 p.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home-East. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Forest Hill with internment to follow.
