John Watkins, 60, of Southaven, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home on July 19, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.

 Born on April 21, 1966, John dedicated his life to the people he loved most. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Pamela Watkins, and his loving son, Shane Watkins of Southaven, Mississippi. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Watkins; his mother, Glenda Watkins; and his brother, Jerry Paul Watkins.

 Affectionately known as “Grumpy” by his five cherished grandchildren, John found his greatest joy in being their grandfather. He leaves behind Hadlee Watkins, Austyn Watkins, Collier Watkins, Granger Watkins, and Greyson Downen. His love for them was immeasurable, and he proudly wore a heart tattoo on his arm bearing each of their names beneath the words, “Grumpy’s Babies.”

 John was an avid basketball player during his high school years and remained a lifelong fan of University of Memphis basketball. He also enjoyed cheering on Ole Miss football and baseball. In his free time, he loved playing WGT Golf on his phone with friends from around the world and enjoyed trying his luck at casino games.

 Above all, John was a man of faith. As a Christian, he believed that God writes each of our stories, even when we do not know how they will end. His quiet faith, love for his family, and kind heart defined the way he lived his life.

 John will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, especially his grandchildren, his loyal friendships, his sense of humor, and the memories he created with those who knew him. His legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

 He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
