Obituary

Joseph Albert Mabe was born March 17, 1925 and passed away peacefully at his home on October 28, 2023.

Joe, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, loved the Lord and life. He had many hobbies and interests that included hunting, fishing, bowling, and softball. He was a softball coach and taught his 3 daughters the game. Joe joined the Navy at age 17 and was a proud World War II Veteran. Joe became a member of Solid Rock Assembly of God Church in 2009. He served and attended faithfully until his health prevented him from going. Joe also served in the missionary field with MAPS. Through this organization, he went to Mexico twice a year to build houses until age 90. Joe was a very talented brick mason by trade and joined Local Union No. 8 in 1952.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Rosetta Mabe, his parents, Bill Mabe, Mary Lorena Mabe Wilson, son, Joseph A. Mabe, Jr., daughter, Valeria Canada, grandson, Dean Goodman and granddaughter, Michelle Hylander.

Joe was loved dearly and his memories will be cherished by his daughters, Gloria Mabe Steele (Richard), Patricia Alice Mabe Goodman, brother, Cecil Mabe (Betty), special granddaughter and caregiver, Angela Hylander. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 13 great great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

We want to extend special thanks to his great-nephew Brian Friend.
