97, Retired Air Force Lt. Colonel Joseph F. Kennard went to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 28, 2018 in Miami, Florida at the age of 97. Colonel Kennard served this country for twenty-one years including duty in Italy during WWII and in Korea during the Korean War. He received the Bronze Star Medal, three presidential unit citations, eleven service ribbons and eight battle stars. After the Air Force he was employed by Memphis Bank and Trust Company and the Kroger Company. Colonel Kennard was an avid and exceptional golfer as well as a talented pool player. He enjoyed many years of retirement playing his sports, traveling the world and spending time with his family near and far. He was a devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed. Colonel Kennard was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Bihm as well as his seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son, Philip Claypool of San Francisco, California, daughter Luanne Schulz of Miami, Florida, two wonderful grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A military burial will take place on Friday, April 6 at Forest Hill Cemetery - Midtown 1661 S. Elvis Presley Blvd in Memphis, Tenn.
