Joseph Edward Sorensen, 79, passed away in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 29, 2024.  Joe was a proud United States Marine, served his country in the Vietnam War, and retired from the Germantown Police Department where he was a police officer.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, cruising the seas with his wife, Ann Sorensen, before she passed in 2019, golfing, fishing, and he made people happy everywhere he went.  He loved being a retired Marine and policeman, having all his "babies" together, fishing, golfing, and his Heinz-57 dog, Sheba.  He never met a stranger and could befriend a rock.  Left to cherish his memory: his brother, Charles Raymond Sorensen (Heidi Smith Sorensen) of Prescott, AZ; his daughter, Anna Marie Sorensen of Memphis, TN; his son, Joseph Michael Sorensen (Tanya Lee Hathaway) of Oakland, TN; his granddaughters, Meagan Nicolle Carver (William Robert Carver) of Arlington, TN and Taylor Alyssa Sorensen of Oakland, TN; and his great-grandson, Joseph Timothy Manning, of Arlington, TN.  Visitation with Mr. Joe's family will begin Friday, May 3, 2024 at 1pm with his service immediately following at 2pm at Forest Hill Funeral Home East.  Please contact 901-382-1000 for information.
