Joy June
Anthony
Jun 22, 1934 — Jan 2, 2022
Joy June Anthony passed away January 2, 2022 at the age of 87 after complications associated with a traffic accident. She was born June 22, 1934 near Covington, TN. Later the family moved to a farm in Oxford Mississippi where she lived until marrying at the age of 18 to Leslie Tutor, of Water Valley, Mississippi. At the age 54, she was wed to Billie Joe Anthony of Water Valley, Mississippi.
She was a true standout, with her thick red hair, natural beauty and a friendly, out-going personality. She was smart, hard working, and fiercely independent. In spite of the limitations created by severe rheumatoid arthritis, she maintained an orderly life and an immaculate home. She was her happiest at home. She found great pleasure in her garden and wanted others to share her appreciation in the beauty of new growth and colorful flowers. She also loved to paint and quilt, many in her family have treasured pieces made by her hands.
She was so very proud of her four sons and their ever growing families. It's not enough to just say "she loved her friends and family." Her friends were her family, and her family was her life. She was always willing to help family, and did. Anything and everything. Over the last several years as her physical limitations grew, she was often frustrated that she could not do more for them; but her sharp mind remained, and she would offer advice and solutions to the problem at hand. The burden was made lighter because she helped carry it. One had to be ready with answers because everyone knew there would be follow-up questions from her until she was satisfied the issue was resolved.
She is survived by four sons; Michael (Cathy), Dennis (Kathy), Brian (Becky)and Gary (Renee). "Meemommy" held a special place in the hearts of her 12 grandchildren; Michael, Shelby, Christopher, Austin, Ryan, Andrew, Brian, Jr., Matt, Drew, Alex, Samantha and Chandler. She adored each of her 20 great grandchildren. She also has 2 sisters Geraldine and Johnnie Ella and brothers Buster and Jack. She is predeceased by her husband Joe Anthony, sisters Dot and JoAnn.
Joy's pallbearers will be Brian Jr Tutor, Michael Tutor, Chris Tutor, Chandler Tutor, Carson Bell and Cal Throckmorton.
Joy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Fly high our sweet Angel.
