Atoka - JOYCE ELIZABETH CARPENTER, 86, of Atoka, TN crossed over to her eternal reward on Thursday, January 17, 2013. She was born August 21, 1926 in Pilljerk, TN. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Julie McDivitt of Covington, TN; sisters, Ida Lee and brother W.D. and her son, Paul David, and daughter Deborah Diane. Joyce was a friend to all she met. Her door was always open where there was a fresh pot of coffee and a home baked pie or cake. A master gardener, she loved to can and freeze the fruits of her labor and generously shared them with family and friends. She also loved to fish. Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her husband of 62 years, John; children, Larry (Terry), Butch (Mary Jo), John, Jr., and Cindy (Mick); sisters, Dorothy, Ruth (Larry) and brother, Bobby Kay. She is also survived by her eight beautiful grandchildren, Marla, Lauren, Nick, Josh, Janna, Lydia, Edie and Thomas and her great-grandchildren, Aidan, Connor, Jack, Silas and Isabelle. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 with services to follow at 10 a.m., at Forest Hill East Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Hill East Cemetery.
