Joyce Elizabeth Aurand Minch, 93, born Sept 8, 1921 to Catherine Cecelia and Fred Potts Aurand in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Harold W. Minch; her sister, Evelyn Carano, and brothers Fred & Earl Aurand. She is survived by her brothers, Bill and Ed Aurand; her children Karen Belleque, Gerry Minch (Judy) and Cathy Minch, with whom she lived. She had 4 grandchildren, Kim Harmon (Jeff); Kelly Esgro (Lee); Joyce Altland and Karen Burton-Jenkins. The family especially wants to thank Cynthia Jones and her daughter Jerita for their loving care these past 2 years. Mama grew up poor, but fed and happy, met a city guy from Akron and married in 1939. They came to the south for Daddy''s job with the United Rubber Workers. They raised 3 children. Mom never knew a stranger and had lifelong friends from her childhood, her Raleigh neighborhood and her church. She was secretary at All Saints Episcopal Church in the 60''s. For 36 years she attended St. Elisabeth''s Episcopal Church, where she was a chalice bearer; President of the Women, and helped found St. E''s chapter of the Daughters of the King. Until she was bedbound she attended Lindenwood Christian Church. Always in the front row gently tapping her toe to the contemporary Christian music the W.O.W. service. She loved helping people and learning about other cultures. She traveled across the USA, with old schoolmates, to Thailand with her neighbors and lived large right here in Memphis. She was Mammaw to all the children and a lot of the adults. Her faith was very strong and she was comforted by the people at St. Elisabeth, who faithfully brought communion. She passed away at home surrounded by family. Her light has dimmed, but remains bright in our hearts, and she will be terribly missed. The family will receive friends, 2-3 p.m., Sunday at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park-East, with the service following at 3:00 p.m.
