Joye Opfer, 91, of Memphis, TN, passed away on January 17, 2020, in Collierville, TN. Visitation will be 12:30 P.M. Wednesday, January 22nd at Forest Hill Home & Memorial Park – East, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN 38133.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Ken Frazier officiating. Joye was born August 24, 1928, to Lynn Alexander Givens and Martha Aker Givens in Manchester, Ohio. She married Dr. Fred Opfer on September 18, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio. Upon her husband's graduation from Ohio State, they moved to Memphis where he practiced veterinary medicine, and they became permanent Memphians. Joye is preceded in death by her husband Fred Opfer and her oldest son Steve.  She is survived by her son Robert and his wife Catherine; her grandson Matthew and his fiancé Ashlynn; and her grandson Nick. Memorials may be given to The Humane Society or the charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the caring staff of Baptist Hospital Collierville.
