Obituary

Judith Ann Vaughn Lantrip

Born in Water Valley, MS to Houston and Jennie Lou Vaughn on October 7, 1941, Judy grew up alongside her four siblings in the very town she started life in. It was here, in Water Valley, that she went to church and school, including Water Valley High School as a cheerleader and basketball player. It was also at Water Valley High School where she met her soulmate, Bill Lantrip. They were married February 10, 1958 and spent the next 62 years together building a life that they loved.
Judy and Bill raised a large family together, starting with their four children. Trennie Keen (Greylin), Dena Swindoll (Bubba), Billy Lantrip (Becky) and Brad Lantrip (Brenda). Ten grandchildren, including Lindsey and her spouse Shala, Lauren and her husband Johnathon, Lacey and her husband Brett, Ashley, Houston, Dustin and his wife Leslie, Savannah, Dillon, Breanna and Hunter. Six great grandchildren including Reece, Brooklyn-Kate, Adelaide, Levi, Tate and Boston. And four bonus grandchildren; Brian, Holly, Justin and Andy.
Judy began her married life as a stay-at-home mother, raising her family to know and love the Lord. She brought her family to Memphis and they eventually settled down in Southaven, MS. She was a homemaker and a wife and, as her children grew, she took pride in becoming a substitute teacher at Southaven High School. Later in her life she worked in Tunica as a card dealer at the Horseshoe Casino. Although she worked in several different places, doing many different things, her favorite job was always wife, mother and grandmother.
Judy enjoyed spending her days in the company of her loved ones. Holidays and family celebrations that brought everyone together were some of her favorite times. Many cherished memories were made celebrating birthdays and anniversaries together.
After 14 months apart, Judy finally reunited with her husband, Bill, in heaven on February 21, 2022, surrounded by family and love. While we mourn our loss here on Earth, we rejoice in the reunion of these two souls and are grateful that she shared her love of the Lord with her family, so that we may be with her again one day.
