Southaven - JULIA ELIZABETH THORNELL, 80, a long-time resident of the mid-south, died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at her sister''s home in Southaven. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Thornell. She is survived by her four sons, Harvey of Shelby Co., Jerry, Lynn, and Ronald of DeSoto Co.; brother Donald Parker of New Albany; two sisters, Dortha Durrett and Betty Smith of DeSoto Co.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The viewing will be held at 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12 at Forest Hill Funeral Home South. The funeral will be held at the same location at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, with burial to follow in Forest Hill South Cemetery.
