Obituary

Julian Earl Morgan, Jr. peacefully passed away on May 6, 2021 at his home in Memphis, Tenn.

Son of J.E. Morgan Sr. and Margaret Inmon Morgan, Julian was born February 8, 1927 in Vardaman, Miss. One of seven siblings, he loved playing football as a boy. He completed school and began a career in Washington, D.C. working for the Census Bureau, before returning to Memphis.

In 1949, he married his sweetheart, Anne Perkins. From the moment he saw her across the town square in Vardaman, he knew she was the one. Anne and Julian celebrated their 72 nd wedding anniversary a few weeks ago.

Ever a family man, one of his greatest joys was spending time with his children and their families. Julian was the father of two sons, Earl (Elizabeth) and Chuck (Glynda), and one daughter, Annette Speros (Richard). He leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Phillip Morgan (Christy), Laurie Ellingsworth (Chuck), Mary Catherine Moore (Zach), Ashley Brasfield (Nic), Lisa Gravatt (Clay), Kimberly Rossie (Chris), Jessica Morgan, Richard Speros, Jr. (Lauren), Brianna Gould (Brad) and Julie Breig (Jay).

In recent years, Julian's and Anne's hearts grew even larger with the addition of 16 great grandchildren, Victoria and Charlotte Morgan; Chase, Mallory and Mary Anne Ellingsworth; Zachary and Alice Moore; Garner and Nicolas Brasfield; Caroline, Catherine and Callie Gravatt; Jackson Rossie; Gabriel Ramos; Charlotte Gould and Jake Breig.

He is also survived by his brothers, Sam Morgan (Nancy) and RE Morgan (Barbara), as well as sisters, Carolyn Mobley and Elizabeth Browning.

Julian was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Charlotte Morgan, Jane Hayes and Rosanne Harmon, and grandson, John Morgan.

A devoted Christian, Julian was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church, where he served as an usher for more than 30 years. Before retiring in the mid-1990's, Julian worked at International Harvester for 34 years and Union Planters Bank for 17 years. He was also a member of the Lion's Club. After retiring, Julian enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, watching his favorite westerns and tinkering in his garage.
