Karen McLaurin Clayborne, born December 21, 1953 in Jackson,Tn passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on February 28,2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents Merri Jill and Elbert Clark McLaurin of Germantown, TN; her mother and father-in-law, Sarah and Brown Clayborne of Waverly, TN.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Allen Brown Clayborne of Germantown TN; her twin daughters, Sarah Katherine Clayborne (Sebastian) of Byhalia, MS, Samantha Jill Clayborne of Germantown TN; her sister, Vicki McLaurin Johnson (Phillip) of Fairhope, AL; her twin brother, Steven Clark McLaurin of Lakeland, TN; and nephews, Peter Johnson (Sabrina) and Matthew Johnson (Shelby) of Memphis,TN, Daniel Johnson (Lauren) of Daphne, AL and a special dear friend of hers and the family, Dianne Fletcher of Germantown, Tn.
Karen graduated from Whitehaven High school in 1972. She then graduated from Memphis State University followed by graduating Magna Cum Laude from Cecil C Humphreys School of Law while serving as editor of the schools Law Review.
After graduation Karen was an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board in Memphis, TN, followed by many more years of work as an attorney at FedEx Corp. ending her career as a Senior Vice President and general counsel. Karen made everyone she met from all walks of life feel comfortable and significant and often used her abilities to challenge the status quo in a respectful and peaceful way to make peoples lives better. She was a beautiful woman inside and out with an engaging smile and a wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 1p.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park – East, located at 2440 Whitten Rd. Memphis, TN 38133.
