Obituary

Karen Diane Gambrell, 76, Memphis, Tennessee passed from this earth into the arms of her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, early Monday morning, December 22, 2014. Diane is a graduate of Treadwell High School class of 1956. In the 1960''s she and her husband studied at Memphis Baptist College for four years to prepare for foreign missionary work. She and her husband lived and served the Lord in Guadalajara, Mexico; Leon, Mexico and Aguascalientes, Mexico for a number of years. Together they founded the Independent Baptist Church of Aguascalientes, Mexico which continues until this day. Later, they founded the Latin American Missionary Training Institute in Aguascalientes, Mexico, which was a 10-month course to train American missionaries. For the last 30 years Diane has served as her husband''s "helpmate," who founded the "Fundamental Baptist World-Wide Mission" in Memphis, Tennessee in 1985. During that time, she and her husband, Ernest Gambrell, traveled the United States and several foreign countries, as he preached Conferences on World Missions. Today, there are scores of young men and women who have been called by God to missionary work and are serving the Lord by preaching the gospel and planting churches in over 23 different countries. Diane has taught and helped prepare many young missionary wives for life on the mission field. Through those missionary wives, her life continues to live on and to bear fruit for She leaves behind her husband Ernest Gambrell of Memphis, three children: a daughter, Teresa Gambrell Denison who has been a missionary in Mexico for 25 years; two sons, Joe Gambrell and Jon Gambrell, who continue to serve the Lord Jesus Christ in Memphis. She leaves nine grandchildren. Diane was a tremendous example of the godly woman described for us in the Bible in Proverbs chapter thirty-one.
