Katherine Jane Bostick Clarke went to her reward on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the age of 84. She passed away peacefully with her loving family around her at the Methodist Hospice Residence. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Augustus Clarke, her parents Cornelius Adams Bostick and Catherine Scruggs Bostick and her sister Cornelia Mayo Bostick Harbison. She was born in Greenville, MS. After graduating from Greenville High School, she attended Ole Miss where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was a Lady of the Realm in the Memphis Cotton Carnival and was a Delta Debutante. She attended Soule Business School in New Orleans LA before marrying in 1957. She lived in Indianola and Tupelo MS, and Memphis TN before settling in Olive Branch She was a lifelong Episcopalian and a member of St Timothy's Episcopal Church in Southaven MS. She had two children: Catherine Clarke Bateman (William Walter Bateman jr) of Memphis TN and James McIver Clarke of Phoenix AZ, and three wonderful granddaughters: Taylor Clarke of Phoenix, and Elizabeth and Mary Ashley Bateman of Memphis. Her most recent nonhuman children were Walter, Gracie and Tigger. She was involved in several organizations including being a Brownie and Cub Scouts troop leader, a member of the Welcome Wagon and the Women's Exchange, and served as a Pink Lady for the Baptist Hospital, all while being an avid Bridge player. She retired from Macy's Department store after serving for 22 years in the gift, china, and furniture departments. She was fond of saying that she learned much more working than she ever did at college. She will be most remembered for her love of animals, shopaholic tendencies, quick wit, love of fine food and cocktails, fierce phobia of serpents (including snakeskin purses, belts, and shoes) and devotion to her family. She would like any memorials to be directed to the care of animals.
