Katherine (Katie) L. Barrett, born January 12, 1947, went home to her Lord and Savior February 20, 2020.

Katie loved music, which was evident throughout her life, as she used her gifts and talents to serve the Lord. She also loved serving others and was the first to give of herself.  When you were in need, she was either calling to check on you or offering to help in some way. Her smile could light up any room, and we are sure her smile was the brightest when she entered heaven's gates.

Katie was employed by Phelps Security and an active member of Leawood East Baptist Church.

Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Barrett, her parents, Lin and Lorine Husted, her brother Woody Husted, her sister Linda Husted and her brother in law Lloyd Phelps. She is survived by her daughter Chrissy Barrett and friend Jean Jacks, her sister Patti Phelps and nieces and nephews, Alan and Leanne Phelps, Jennifer and Geoff Mack and Andy and Deanna Phelps and their children, Cara and Aiden Phelps, Grayson and Lydia Mack and Lakelyn and Sydney Phelps.

Katie also leaves her longtime friend Davalyn Hendrix and her children Rose and Tyler Hendrix who affectionately called Katie "Hunny". Katie loved and treated them as her very own, and if you spent much time with her at all, she would tell you all about them. She also leaves many close friends and coworkers that loved her as well.

Visitation  will be held Thursday, February 27, 2020, from 12:30~2 p.m. with services following at Forest Hill East on Whitten Rd with burial at South Cemetery at 2545 E. Holmes Road, Memphis, TN 38118 immediately following the service. The family would like to thank you for your presence, your kind words and continued prayers.
