Katherine Evelyn Nelms, 79, born November 18, 1940 passed peacefully to her heavenly home on March 31, 2020. Her love for her Lord, her family and her friends was always evident. Katherine was a prayer warrior, a soul winner and loved sharing with others about the Word of God and Jesus. For many years she taught Sunday School and led numerous Bible Studies. Her impact was great on many lives throughout the years and she was widely known as a kind, loving and encouraging woman of God. She was also an incredible cook who never quite learned how to cook for only 2 people. To learn her recipes took standing next to her because she didn't measure but cooked by sight, smell and taste. Although she will be greatly missed, everyone who knew her knows that she is in the presence of her Savior with a healed body, worshipping as she has always desired.

Katherine was survived by her loving and godly husband of 61 years, Thomas Nelms. Her children: Donna Southern (David), David Nelms (Pebbles), Debbie Nelms (Ricky Looney) and Dwyndl Nelms (Lori). She leaves behind 9 Grandchildren and 14 Great-Grandchildren as well as 1 brother and 4 sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents Chester White and Ethel McGee, 1 sister Gracie Lemons, and 2 Grandchildren: David Wyatt Graham and Ashley Southern.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will be a small ceremony, for immediate family only, at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 3, 2020 at Forest Hill Cemetery South on Holmes Rd in Memphis, TN. However it will be shared on Facebook Live and friends will be welcome to be in their cars, watch on Facebook Live and drive by as a show of respect. There will be Celebration of Life Ceremony at a later date.
