Katherine Louise White Bracey was born on February 28, 1929, Near Highes in St. Francis County, AR. She was the second of four children born to the late Bill and Martha Williams White. During the flood of 1937, Katherine came to live, temporarily, with her maternal grandmother in Hernando, MS. During that time she discovered that she had a great talent for cooking, crocheting, sewing and writing poetry. Hobbies that she pursued for the rest of her life.

On June 10, 1944, she was married to her beloved husband, the late Rev. Daniel Bracey. She and Daniel moved to Memphis, TN where they made their home.

Daniel was called into the ministry and later was called to pastor Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. There she served as first lady, as a Sunday school and Bible School Teacher, and on the Mother's Board. After the death of Pastor Bracey, Katherine moved her church membership to New Mount Olive M.B. Church where she served faithfully as a member of the church, President of Women's Department, as a mentor and Christian role model for young women and girls, and supported the church faithfully until her transition.

Katherine was employed by the Memphis Board of Education as head cook at Denver Elementary School. Her God given gift for cooking and baking was known throughout the Memphis area. She was also a gifted seamstress and often made custom made her husband's shirts and suits.

Her siblings Bill White, Jr., Robert S. White, and Bernice White Price preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved grandson, Taurean T. Davis whom she raised from his birth; her great-grandson, Jerrico Davis; her cousin-best friend, Geraldine Patton, two very devoted nieces: JoAnn White Lewis and Andrea Latrice Price Harris, one devoted nephew; Michael White, two sister-in-laws: Ora Lee White and Katie White of Memphis, TN, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her New Mount Olive family and many devoted friends.
