Kenneth Thomas Melton's Obituary
Kenneth Thomas Melton, aged 79, passed away on May 6, 2023. Born on July 8th, 1943, in Somerville, Tennessee, to Thomas and Faye Melton, Kenny met his wife Beth in high school, and they shared over 50 years of marriage, raising three sons together. Kenny joined the Navy after high school and served for seven years. After his discharge, he worked for the phone company for 20 years before starting his own company, Melton Communications, where he worked until his retirement.
Kenny was passionate about baseball, which led him to play softball and coach youth baseball throughout his middle-aged years. He was an avid Memphis Tigers fan, following both basketball and football, and his family shares many cherished memories of watching games with him. Kenny enjoyed traveling, particularly to the beach, and in his later years, he developed an interest in reading, especially murder and mystery novels.
A true family man, Kenny deeply loved his family, and they returned that love in kind. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Faye Melton, and his sister, Patricia Freeman. He is survived by his wife, Beth Melton; his three sons, Stan (Jeanne) Melton, David (Lara) Campbell, and Sam Campbell; five grandchildren, Michael (Paulina) Melton, Jesseca (John) Melton-Sellers, Joshua Melton, Trey Campbell, and Laura Lamoreaux; three great-grandchildren, Sophie Kate, Jordan, and Roman; a special niece, Tammy Faye Adkins; and his great-nephew and niece, Caleb and McKenzie.
A visitation will be held from 1pm-2pm on Wednesday, May 10th followed by a memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Kenny at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park East.
