Obituary

Kenneth Noe, 85, of Memphis, TN, died Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, of COVID-19 exacerbated by Alzheimer's dementia. Kenneth was born in Memphis on March 28, 1935, and attended Tech High School, graduating in 1953. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force (1955-1959) and was honorably discharged. He joined the Memphis Fire Department in 1960, serving until his retirement in 1989. During his time with the department, he also held side jobs – as do numerous firefighters and other public servants – forming many lifelong friendships in the process. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of almost 37 years, Betty Landrum Noe, who died July 18, 2001. Kenneth was known to all as an incredibly hard worker – always willing to lend his time, strength, and skill to any person, family, or organization who needed his help. With a deep appreciation for the variety and diversity that the world can offer to those willing to engage it, he loved to travel – visiting Europe on multiple occasions and crisscrossing the United States on countless vacations. He loved to share his joy of discovery, and instilled that joy of making every attempt to "see it all" in many that he met and of course in his two children, Matthew (married to Amanda Gooch since 10.21.06) and Madeleine (married to Jen Harrison since 6.7.13), both Memphians. Kenneth had one grandchild, Matthew and Amanda's son, Hudson, of whom he was infinitely proud and whom he loved boundlessly. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness and will be greatly missed by a small army of family, friends, and other folks he met along his life's journey. Should you be so moved, donations in memoriam can be made to the Collierville Literacy Council . Due to the pandemic, services will be for immediate family only, and a virtual memorial will be held at a later date.
