December 13, 1946 – January 31, 2024
Kenneth Ray Pegram of Senatobia, MS, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 31st 2024 at his home with his family at his side. He was 77 years old, and born in Memphis, TN, to A.B. and Bernice Pegram, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his brother Emory Pegram, and a great granddaughter, Kaleigh Scruggs.
Ken graduated from Catholic High School in Memphis, Tennessee, attended Clarke Junior College in Newton, Mississippi, received a BA in Bible and Religious Education from Mississippi College in Jackson, Mississippi, and a Master of Divinity from Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee.
Ken received Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at the age of 20. He later felt the Lord calling him to preach His Word, and was ordained to the gospel ministry in 1971. He pastored churches in Arkansas and Mississippi and served over 30 years as interim pastor in various churches and holding revivals in Northwest Mississippi. He was currently a member at Lifepoint Church in Senatobia, Mississippi.
He spent two weeks in Syrgot, Siberia teaching Bible courses to men who wanted to preach the gospel.
Ken was a member of U.A. Local 614, and retired from Carrier Corporation after 18 years of service. Ken was a veteran and received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy.
His favorite pastimes were vacationing in his RV and riding his Harley motorcycle with his wife and friends until his health prevented that. He was a past member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association (CMA) and at one time held various positions in the local chapter of CMA, SonSeekers.
Ken leaves behind his devoted wife, Jane Taylor Pegram, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage, and one daughter, Melanie Pegram Willhite (Mark Rhodes). as well as two granddaughters, Ashleigh Willhite Scruggs (Dusty) and Faith Willhite (Kelvin Miller), a grandson, Andrew Rhodes and a great grandson, Omerion Gardner. He also leaves three sisters, Linda Pegram, Cyrilla (Manford) Filsinger, Stacey (David) Moore as well as nieces, nephews and other loved ones and friends.
His life will be celebrated at Forest Hill Cemetery, 2440 Whitten Rd. Memphis, TN Saturday, February 3rd. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 P.M. preceding the service, with service beginning at 2. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery South, 2545 E. Holmes Road in Memphis.
