Larry Gene Thomas, 83, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, man of faith, and friend to many, went to be with the Lord on August 8, 2025. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 7, 1942, and was preceded in death by his parents, Avery Thomas and Elsie Thomas Miller.

Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Beverly Jean Thomas; his children, Craig Thomas (Angie) of Jackson, Mississippi, and Chris Thomas of Memphis, Tennessee; one sister, Linda Aaron; one brother, Gary Thomas; and three grandchildren: Sam Thomas, Drew Thomas, and Will Thomas.

A graduate of Bartlett High School, Larry earned a baseball scholarship to then-Southwestern, now Rhodes College. He also attended the University of Memphis and Evangel College. Larry was deeply loved by his church family at First Assembly and later at Bellevue. He dearly loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and sibling. Known affectionately as "Poppy" to his grandchildren and extended family, he brought joy, wisdom, and encouragement to all who knew him. If you were privileged to know Larry, you knew he loved the Lord, his family, and, of course, golf. He was a wonderful example to his family and lived his personal faith in the Lord daily, leaving behind a legacy of love,
devotion, and steadfast belief.

Visitation will be held at noon, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, August 18, 2025, in the chapel of Bellevue Baptist Church, 2000 Appling Road, Cordova, Tennessee.

Interment will follow at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee.
