Larry Joe Welker, of Arlington, TN died on January 10th, 2014. He was born April 13th, 1933 to Otis and Mary Welker of Marmaduke, AR. As a career soldier in the US Army, he fought in two wars, Korea and Vietnam. After the military, he earned an Associate's Degree at State Technical Institute and worked in the University of Tennessee Medical School Child Development Center from 1979-1989. He enjoyed hunting in his early years, but was a lifetime enthusiast for fishing. He also enjoyed camping in a motor home, visiting campsites from Missouri to Maryland. Always one to lend an ear, he was a wonderful Father, Husband and dear friend to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wade, and sisters Sue and Linda. He is survived by his wife Patricia Welker of Arlington, TN, three daughters: Mary Welker and Rena Hidalgo of Memphis, TN and Betsy Carter of Coos Bay, OR and one son, Mark Welker and wife Laura Welker of Frederick, MD. He is also survived by his younger sister, Pat Alsbrook, of Memphis, TN. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, one great- grandchild and thirty-two nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22nd, 2014 at two o'clock at Forest Hill Memorial Park, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN 38133
