Laverne L. Whittington, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, January 15, 2013. She was formally of Dyersburg and a longtime Memphian. Mrs. Whittington was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Eva Robinson. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William H. Permenter and Fred Whittington and two sisters, Martha Moore and Madeline Clark. Mrs. Whittington was a faithful member of Bethel Church in Bartlett, TN. She is survived by her sons, Billy W. Permenter (Mariam) of Olive Branch, MS, Kenneth E. Permenter (Gwen) of Oakland, TN, Rev. Daryl G. Permenter (Linda) of Geneva, FL and Glen A. Permenter (Patricia) of Olive Branch, MS. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2012 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home with interment to follow in Memphis Memory Gardens.
