Lee R. Shepherd, age 93, passed away at St. Francis Bartlett Hospice on February 7, 2019.  His parents were Floyd and Pearl Shepherd.  He is survived by one son, Mike Shepherd (Janice) of Bartlett, TN; one grandson, Michael Shepherd (Kimberly) of Arlington, TN; a brother, James Jones; a sister, Jean Lister (David); a dear friend, Eleanor Daugherty; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Evelyn Gurley Shepherd; his mother, Pearl Jones; and stepfather, Ed Jones; two sisters, Atha Scarberry and Nell Triplett; and a brother A.D. Shepherd.  He served as a Gunner in the Navy on the ship USS Atherton during World War II, and was decorated for his part in the sinking of a German submarine off of the east coast of the United States.  His favorite hobbies were fishing, gardening, and traveling.  He retired from ITT Outdoor Lighting Company, and was a member of the Great Oaks Church of Christ.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 1:00 pm at Forest Hill East, with services at 2:00 pm.  Burial will be at Forest Hill South Cemetery.
