Lela Faye Linton Williams, 94, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022. Born on September 21 , 1927, in Iuka, Mississippi, she moved to Memphis, Tennessee, as a young adult where she lived with cousins, worked, and made many memories. She married the late Hubert Leon Williams in 1951 . They lived on Prescott Avenue in Memphis but spent many weekends at their cabin on Pickwick Lake, where Faye loved to fish and water ski.

After Faye retired from Memphis State University (now known as the University of Memphis), Hubert and Faye moved to a few acres in Nesbit, Mississippi, where they gardened, canned, and enjoyed country living.

Faye attended Southmoor Baptist Church in Memphis but transferred her membership to First Baptist Church in Nesbit, where she taught Sunday School and played piano for the senior service on Wednesday mornings. Faye was a life-long learner, humble , and very independent , never want ing to inconvenience anyone . Most of all, s he loved to have fun , and visiting with people of ever y age brought her great joy. She will be remembered for her sweet and loving spirit .

Faye was preceded in death by her husband, parents (Jeff and Panthy Linton) , and five siblings (Luther Linton, Lawrence Linton, Dewey Linton, Mildred Linton Clark, and Jean Linton Murphree ) . Sh e will be greatly missed by a multitude of family and friends . Visitation and a brief service will be held at Nesbit Presbyterian Church from 5-7 pm on July 7, 2022, with a private interment at Forest Hill – South Memorial Park.
